Hospice nursing can be a fulfilling and flexible nursing path.
But it comes with unique challenges and a steep learning curve - and the burnout rate is high, for good reason.
It’s easy to let this job become bigger than you, when it comes to your time and your emotional life.
Working with hospice nursing coach Linde Carter can you help you move beyond surviving as a hospice nurse and into thriving - with a job that’s an important part of your life, even while it’s not your life.
“I believe that you were placed exactly at the perfect moment in time in my journey! I will be forever grateful for our time together as I’m not sure I would have pushed myself in the direction of pursing my own practice if it weren’t for our insightful coaching sessions. Thank you!" - Jolene K.
Linde Carter, RN, EOLD, NC-BC…
Linde Carter is a joyful hospice nurse, end-of-life doula, and a board-certified nurse coach, with over 25 years of experience in hospice care, behavioral health, home health, and faith community nursing.
Linde brings her passion for teaching and mentoring to her work empowering hospice nurses, end-of-life doulas and other professionals to care for themselves and others with confidence, emotional resilience and personal balance.
She also works directly with individuals and families, helping them plan for the unexpected and unwanted, navigate the last months, weeks and days of life - and cope with the spiritual and practical tasks that follow the death of a loved one. (Linde is also a funeral celebrant.)
She has a special gift for midwifing people through grief and is a certified grief doula, which informs all of her work.
When she is not doing one or all of the above, Linde can be found caring for her rescue animals, serving as a pet doula or teaching new pet doulas, and enjoying time with her family and friends.
“My job had been (and continues to be) very stressful and demands a lot of my time… I am always taking care of others before myself and you helped me to see this differently and to prioritize myself more. You are very compassionate and empathetic, but also got right to the point, which you gently did without me realizing it until afterward, which really set me up for success…! Thank you, Linde!” - Monica B.
Hospice Nurse Coaching
Hospice nursing is rewarding and it can give you a family-flexible schedule - but transitioning into this work can be difficult and unnecessarily time-consuming, the grief is real, and burnout risk is high.
A few hours of mentoring with Linde Carter can help you make hospice nursing an important and sustainable part of your life, without letting it take over your life.
Workshops & Trainings
As healthcare workers, we know a lot about keeping people alive, but keeping them comfortable and calm while we care for ourselves requires a unique skillset.
Linde offers workshops and trainings designed to equip hospice care staff to care for others and themselves in this sensitive work.
End-of-life Doula Consulting
Every end-of-life doula comes to this work via a unique life path - which may not include experience in the clinical aspects of dying.
Consult calls with Linde can give you the confidence to take those first, important steps in your doula practice.
Advance Care Planning
With advance care planning, we can give our loved ones the confidence and peace of mind they need to care for us and themselves when the unexpected and/or unwanted happens.
Linde can work with you to complete advance directives that truly reflect what matters most to you when it comes to care and comfort - and help you organize the information your decision maker(s) and care partners will need to handle your most important, practical life matters at a moment’s notice.
End-of-Life Care Organizing
Almost none of us have walked through the normal dying process with a loved one, e’re not experts, and we shouldn’t have to shoulder it alone. Hospice can help, but they can only do so much - and not everyone chooses hospice at the end of life.
Linde can work with you and your family to help you understand what you can expect in your loved one’s final journey and organize yourself and your family to help you keep your loved one calm, comfortable - and your family connected - in those last previous moments.
Memorial & Legacy Assistance
There are as many ways to celebrate a life as there are people in this world - and some of the most meaningful remembrances are unconventional, affordable and designed to express the essence of the loved one in a deeply-resonant way.
Linde can work with you to create a memorial plan that reflects the truth of the person being celebrated (whether that is you or someone close to you) and offers opportunities for joy and healing for those who remain.
After-Death Coordination
When someone we love dies, there is so much to be done. We often don’t know where to start, how to arrange a truly meaningful funeral or memorial service without spending much more money than is genuinely available, which forms and notifications need to be submitted to whom, and so much more. And all of this, while we are fresh in our grief.
Linde can help you sort through the confusion and help you identify what needs to be done and how to do it, with peace and confidence.
Pet End-of-Life Care
Caring for a beloved animal companion in the last years and days of life takes more than love. It takes knowledge, resources and support.
Linde is a certified pet care doula, and she can help you understand how to keep your pet calm and comfortable in their elderhood and at the end of their life - and how to know when it is time to help them cross the rainbow bridge.
Grief Journey Support Throughout…
Throughout an end of life journey, whether your own or someone else’s, grief can seem to be a constant companion.
As a certified grief doula with more than two decades serving people experiencing grief and loss, Linde brings grief awareness and the ability to help midwife clients and loved ones through grief to each of the services she provides.
“Because of your broad nursing background, extensive knowledge on human compassion, relationships, grief and loss, as well as mental and emotional issues, and overall health and wellness, you were always able to provide me with profound insight about any issues I was struggling with and helped me to step back when I needed to, and see the bigger picture.’”- Alana F.

“During our sessions, you provided a sense of balance, inner peace, time out, and clear thoughts. But you also provided positive, thoughtful and focused plans of action, along with tools, resources and ‘tips’ to achieve the goals we discussed.” - Diane R.
End-of-Life Doulas: What We Do…
End-of-life doulas (“EOLDs”) are holistic care guides and educators who help people prepare for - and journey through - the end of life (their own or someone else’s). Most of us feel called to this work.
Some of us are generalists. Some focus on providing direct family support and hands-on care. Others specialize in education, care navigation, advance life planning - or other services.
We each bring our own, unique personal, educational and professional experiences to our practices. Most of us also choose to pursue end-of-life doula training and certification and continue to grow through community.
Still, we all bring our holistic doula calling and knowledge to everything we do for our clients, their circles of care, and our communities.
